Lindos Braided Rope Semi-Flush Ceiling Light

A faceted shade of braided rope, mounted on a black steel frame, forms the wide, low lantern silhouette of this rope semi flush mount light. Light slips between every strand, and a black canopy holds the whole piece against the ceiling with no cord or rod.

Once lit, the weave throws a scatter of bright lines across the ceiling and upper walls. The fiber shifts from beige to honey, and its shadow draws a second, wider and softer fixture. At 30 cm (11.8 in) wide and 22 cm (8.7 in) high, it fits where a pendant would hang too low: an entryway, a hallway, a kitchen or an attic bedroom. Installed as a pair above a countertop or island, it structures the space while keeping headroom clear.

The rope, twisted and then woven by hand, is supple and even, thicker than a fine fiber and warmer than metal alone. It pairs with limewashed walls, zellige tile, travertine and pale wood in Mediterranean, bohemian or wabi-sabi interiors, and the black frame disappears once the light is on.
