Méltémi Rattan Straw Hat Pendant Light

Wide and asymmetric, its wavy edges lifted as if by a gust of wind, the Méltémi straw hat pendant light is woven in fine rattan from a central cone out to a flat, flaring brim, slightly skewed on one side. A small light wood tip joins it to the cord.

The weave is tight and blond toward the top and more open at the edges, where light shines through. Once lit, the glow travels from the central cone toward the rim, warmest at the crown and more veiled on the brim, and the asymmetry throws uneven light on the ceiling, brighter on one side than the other.

At 30 cm (11.8 in) wide and 18 cm (7.1 in) tall, it becomes a focal point without crowding the room, above a counter in an open kitchen, over a reading chair or in a bedroom.
